Progressive Enhancement, the New Hotness™ — written by Chris Ferdinandi

Even though I found it a bit shocking – (according to a little Twitter poll that Sara Soueidan ran recently) – that relatively few people in the web industry know what Progressive Enhancement is, it’s also good to see it being talked about again.

Progressive enhancement stands in contrast to the “all or nothing” approach you often see with modern websites, where if something fails, the user gets no experience at all.

If you care about quality engineering, you want as much fault tolerance in the things you build as possible.
